DJ DXRTY is a DJ, producer, and tastemaker from Las Vegas, NV. Known for playing both EDM and hip hop shows DJ DXRTY is quickly establishing himself in the industry.
Tell us a little bit about you, what is your business? How was your business created?
I am a DJ, Producer, Tastemaker from Las Vegas, NV. I got started by producing bass music back in 2016. It actually all started the day after I experienced Ghastly’s set at the Life is Beautiful Festival.
Who have you used as inspiration in building your business?
Kanye West’s Album Graduation triggered my freshman year mindset to have such an artistic and impactful career like Kanye West, DJ AM, RIP, got me into DJing at 13-14 years old with my first turntable setups, and finally contemporary artist Jean-Michael Basquiat, RIP, for inspiring me to “create” from my street art/tagging days to DJing currently.
What are you currently working on? What is the next step in the DJ DXRTY brand’s growth?
Recently, I did Executive Producer duties on a short horror film with Director Mikey Zortek along with being in charge of the sounds and scores in that film. I hope to take steps further that’ll take my name and work onto different mediums outside DJing and Producing.
If you could collab with anyone else who would it be and why?
It would have to be Kid Cudi, Kanye West, Post Malone, Travis Scott, Chase B and Skrillex due to personal reasons. Reasons being a mix of their presence and music helped get through my struggles in life growing up. It also helped give me the confidence to keep me focused and emotions I needed to spill out through creating. Anything from them influenced who DXRTY is.
What advice would you give to a younger version of yourself if you were just starting your journey?
To my 6th grade self, don’t focus on anything or anyone that has negative effects on your feelings. Mind your surroundings, find your positive energy, and focus on what you truly love to do.
