Artist on the Rise: J.E.V.I. PE$CI

Battling through early struggles artist J.E.V.I. PE$CI, aka Lonjevity, has made a name for himself in the industry. While his path has not been easy, he has proved that anything is possible with hard work and dedication.

JEVI PE$CI

Tell us a little bit about you, what is your business? What do you want the public to know about how your business was created?

I am an American independent hip hop and R&B artist. Outside of my recording talents I am also a producer, engineer, promoter, videographer, and influencer. As well as the CEO of JEVIPESCI PRODUCTIONS and a founding member of LVSTOVDAVILLAINZ music group.

My name has meaning to it as JEVI is an acronym for “Juggernaut of Every Vermin Insight” symbolizing my versatile lyrical ability. As well as “Judgement Environment Violence & Instinct” which is derived from the subjects of topics I rap about. Pe$ci is a nickname that was given to me by childhood friends, after Goodfellas actor “Joe Pesci” because of my stature and volatile demeanor.

I am an artist first & foremost. I grew up in a poverty stricken, drug, and alcohol filled environment. Often I supported my family through forms of illegal activity, which lead to multiple incarcerations. Because of this I started using hip hop as a therapeutic outlet. Before the rise of technology I was performing live showcases, selling CDs on street corners, and mastering all four elements of the culture including break dancing, DJing, graffiti, and emceeing.

I overcame hardships with extreme perseverance and passion, adapting to an evolving atmosphere while enduring the systemic challenges of a convicted felon in society and battling mental and emotional disorders stemming from early traumatic exposure of a home divided by substance abuse & addiction. My pure will, dedication, and discipline became necessary tools for survival. Hip hop saved my life, literally. I’ve learned that from pain comes strength and that true success is measured by the obstacles one has overcome.

I am a born leader, with extra-ordinary drive and determination. I insist on my right to make up my own mind, and demand respect, freedom of thought, and I do not let anything or anyone stand in my way once I commit to a goal. Because of this I have been featured on worldwide mixtapes, global Satellite radio, and I have notable mentions across various renowned platforms. Also, I won “Hottest in the State” of New York, North Carolina & Florida.

As for my businesses, JEVIPESCI Productions is an independent hip hop company specializing in musical artist talent services including recording, engineering, promotion, marketing, and distribution. Founded in 2018 it was created as an outlet for assisting independent artists by providing opportunities to share their music with the world. I also wanted to give the artists the chance to have creative freedom to operate without the funding from outside major record labels. Being self made and self taught I wanted to give back by presenting opportunities that weren’t available to me, mainly for struggling talented artists in similar situations to mine.

Who have you used as inspiration in building your business?

I grew up in the urban Eastcoast Tri-state area in the prime of hip hop, which influenced my journey. The culture drew me in and I began break dancing, doing graffiti, and writing poetry. I idolized Heartfelt lyricists such as Kool G Rap, Nas, 2pac, Notorious BIG, Mobb Deep, Eminem, Big Pun, Jay – Z, Capone N Noreaga, Wu-Tang Clan, and Outkast. Their art and poetry not only inspired me, but gave me the motivation and determination that helped me get through some of the hardest times in my life.

What are you currently working on? What is the next step in your business’s growth?

JEVIPESCI PRODUCTIONS Brand clothing line and merch is flourishing! I’ve been focused on growing the brand, I have 4 new music video projects in production.

My group Lvstovdavillainz new single “HOST” is dropping this month which will be featured on the upcoming 3rd studio project “DvyAftr2mrw” set to drop 2021. My new solo single “God Dayum”’ just dropped and I have an upcoming R&B hit single titled “Callin U” set for promotional release. This song will be featured on the much anticipated full length 2 Disc studio album “Judgement Environment Violence Instinct” set to drop 2021 as well. Also, I have live showcase performances in Miami Beach for December and more!

Adapting to COVID-19 has pushed me in different directions, and I would never have thought about strategically taking advantage of music marketing opportunities that I am using now. I’m constantly moving forward, breaking boundaries to get myself outside my comfort zone and to keep a proactive mentality. Life is short, memory is legacy, and music is the only universal language so stay tuned!

If you could collab with anyone else who would it be and why?

I’ve worked with legendary Queensbridge, NY artist Nine, of “Nine Livez,” which was an absolute lifetime honor & blessing. With that said, if I could collab with any living artist it would be a dream to work with Kool G Rap, Nas, Jadakiss, Method Man, or Havoc of Mobb Deep I grew up inspired by them.

Also, newer artists Wiz Khalifa, NF, Millyz, Berner, Merkules & Rittz are just some really dope minded lyrical artists who respect the craft and appreciate the culture and art form.

What advice would you give to a younger version of yourself if you were just starting your journey?

I would tell my younger self that you’re going to go through a lot of rough times, but it will make you stronger. Also, to remember that no matter what happens in life don’t get discouraged because that’s what will make you become who you are today.

Pain is temporary, time is priceless, stay the course and keep focused on your vision. Make sure to always be yourself and never give up on your talent even when reality wants you to, you a have a world to inspire!
